Communications that Empower
Many managers pride themselves for solving problems and making decisions quickly. This is important and useful except when everyone who reports to them dumps their problems on the manager’s lap! In this module managers learn to listen in a way that empowers those around them to solve their own problems quickly and effectively. Managers learn to listen for the core problem in a way that the direct report can see it clearly. The manager then skillfully guides the direct report to his or her own solution. Follow-up coaching from the manager is then negotiated. When managers do this, the direct reports begin to solve their own problems with skill and confidence and the manager is able to manage more effectively.

Influencing Others With Style

Relationships and results can suffer terribly and unnecessarily. There are four basic styles used to get results. When you can recognize other’s styles and appreciate their strengths and weaknesses, you have a foundation for teamwork and cooperation that can turn a nightmare into a dream. In this class managers learn to recognize different styles and adjust their own to influence others and produce surprising results
